CENTENNIAL KNOCKS OFF RIVER HILL FOR SEASON SWEEP

Colin Gibbons scored 16 points and Evan Weintraub had 15 as
Centennial knocked off River Hill, 51-45, in a Howard
County
boys’ basketball in Clarksville
Wednesday afternoon.

Tandario Bogues contributed 10 for the Eagles (6-10 overall,
4-8 league), who swept the regular season series from last season’s state Class
3A champions. Phil Ashtianie led River Hill (9-5, 7-5) with 16 points.

The Hawks travel to Glenelg for a league contest Friday
evening while Centennial welcomes Long Reach.

Atholton 55, Wilde Lake 42
Junior guard Shane Brown scored 27 points, carrying Atholton (12-3, 11-1) over Wilde Lake to remain in a first-place tie with Howard and Marriotts Ridge. Chris Cole led Wilde Lake (2-12, 2-10) with 13 points.

Atholton travels to Howard Friday evening for at least a share of first. Wilde Lake hosts Marriotts Ridge Friday.

Wilde Lake:
Richards 7, Chaney 3, Elkhabi 2, Martin 4, Throner 9, Cole 13, Waters 4. Totals 17 2-5 42.
Atholton: Iscandari 5, Hart 2, Brown 27, Jones 9, Settle 8, Hermina 2, Robinson 2. Totals 18 14-22 55. Halftime: Wilde Lake 26, Atholton 20.

Long Reach 67, Oakland Mills 57
Deon Queen scored 20 points, and Mario Lloyde chipped in 18 as Long Reach won its second consecutive home decision. Seniors Steven Bell and Obi Ukwuoma had 12 and 10 points respectively for the Lightning (12-2, 10-2), who remained a game behind Howard, Marriotts Ridge and Atholton for first.

Gionni Williams led all scorers with 21 points for Oakland Mills (4-9, 4-8), and Darryl Lee added 12. The Scorpions will play at Reservoir Friday evening while Long Reach is at Centennial.

Howard 51, Glenelg 46
Junior Binak MacGyver scored 15 points, and senior guard Kameron Crump added 11, leading No. 20 Howard past visiting Glenelg. Jonathon Moore added 10 points for the Lions, who maintained a share of first with Marriotts Ridge and Atholton.

Bruce Richardson led all scorers with 21 points for Glenelg (7-9, 6-6), and Steve Visnic chipped in 10. The Gladiators host River Hill Friday evening while Howard hosts Atholton for a share of first place.

Glenelg: Richardson 21, Visnic 10, Dziwulski 7, Trawick 4, Felix 2, Sones 2. Totals 20 2-4 46.
Howard:

Marriotts Ridge 58, Mt. Hebron 37
Leading by only five points at halftime, Marriotts Ridge dominated the second half and cruised to a decision over Mount Hebron Wednesday evening.

Senior guard Kevin Seker scored 19 points, and Kyle Williams added 12 for the Mustangs (13-2, 11-1), who remained in a first-place tie with Howard and Atholton, who both won league matches Wednesday.

Jameson Zacharias had eight points to lead winless Mount Hebron (0-16, 0-12). The Vikings will host Hammond in league play Friday evening while Marriotts Ridge travels to Wilde Lake.

Marriotts Ridge: Williams 12, Incontrera 4, Coleman 5, Dunn 2, Doolin 2, Seker 19, West 9, Soscia 5. Totals 20 15-22 58.
Mount Hebron:
Chatham 7, McCarthy 3, Neal 2, Medoff 6, Ireland 4, Zacharias 8, Fetzer 2, Schultz 5. Totals 13 10-21 37. Halftime: Marriotts Ridge 27, Mount Hebron  22.

Reservoir 79, Hammond 73
Senior center Bill Reybold scored 31 points, and junior Matt Witmer contributed 13 as Reservoir (4-12, 4-8) defeated Hammond. James Brooks finished with 12 points for the Fulton school.

Junior guard Chris Baker led all scorers with 34 points for Hammond (2-11, 2-10), and junior forward Leo Rogers had 14.  The Bears will look to snap a six-game losing skid, traveling to Mount Hebron Friday evening while Reservoir hosts Oakland Mills.

Hammond: Ajayi 3, Baker 34, Bello 3, Bjerre 11, Blossom 8, Boyle 2, Rogers 14. Totals 27 15-18 73.
